A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser. This page explains which ones we use and how to switch them off.
The cookies we use
- Essential — needed for the site to function, for example remembering your cookie choice or keeping an admin signed in. These cannot be turned off without breaking the site.
- Analytics — help us count visits and see which articles are read, in aggregate. We do not use them to build an advertising profile of you.
- Retailer attribution — set by Amazon and other retailers after you click an affiliate link, so your purchase is credited to us. These are the retailer's cookies, governed by the retailer's own policy.
What we do not do
We do not run third-party advertising networks on this site, and we do not sell the data our cookies collect.
How to control cookies
Every major browser lets you view, block and delete cookies in its settings, and offers a private-browsing mode that discards them when you close the window. Blocking analytics cookies will not stop you using the site.
- Chrome — Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies.
- Safari — Settings → Privacy.
- Firefox — Settings → Privacy & Security.
- Edge — Settings → Cookies and site permissions.
Do Not Track
If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal we respect it for our own analytics.
Changes
If we add or remove a cookie we will update this page. See also our Privacy Policy.
