What that means in plain terms

Some links to products on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, the retailer pays us a small commission. It costs you nothing extra — you pay exactly the same price as you would going to the retailer directly.

Why we tell you this

Because you deserve to know how a site that recommends things to buy makes its money. Affiliate commission is how we fund our research, photography and writing without putting our articles behind a paywall or filling them with intrusive ads.

How it affects what we recommend — it does not

  • We choose what to feature on merit, based on our own research into what actually works in a real home.
  • We are never paid by a brand to include, rank or praise a product on this site.
  • We say when something is a compromise, and we name the cheaper option when the expensive one is not worth it.
  • If we would not put it in our own home, it does not get recommended.

How to spot an affiliate link

Affiliate links are marked with the standard sponsored attribute, and every article containing them carries a visible disclosure near the top. Buttons and product cards that lead to a retailer are affiliate links.

About prices

Where we show a price it was correct when we last checked, and we show when that was. Amazon prices in particular change often, so treat any price here as a guide and confirm on the retailer's page.
